The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY :
Assists licensed physical, occupational therapists, physical and occupational therapy assistants and students in all aspects of treatment in order to maximize each patient's functional ability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Transfers and transports patients in a safe and timely manner
While under direct supervision of the treating therapist, the rehabilitation aide will assists with direct patient care relative to patient’s age, culture, and condition
Communicates verbally and in written form with therapists, assistants, students, customers, volunteers and other aides to maintain efficient workflow.
Maintains linen, disinfects equipment, sterilizes equipment, and tracks reusable supplies.
Maintains clean working environment.
Receives, distributes, and restocks supplies.
Files, answers and makes telephone calls; performs departmental copying.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :
Strong technical/mechanical skills and experience.
Ability to work with little supervision and to exercise independent decision making and judgement in performance of all duties.
Ability to work safely and effectively with maintenance tools and equipment, including power tools.
EQUIPMENT :
Standard rehabilitation and office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients.
Travel may be required.
Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
High school or equivalent.
No experience required.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
